Hotel Usona by Protomartyr: Preorder the Domino Sky Blue Edition
Protomartyr’s seventh album is up for preorder and the Domino Mart exclusive is the version worth getting. Hotel Usona was recorded with Dave Fridmann at Tarbox Road Studios, and the pairing makes sense on paper and apparently delivers on record too. Fridmann has a way of making things feel heavier than they have any right to, and from what the band have shared so far, that weight is very much present here.
Joe Casey’s writing has always been one of the band’s sharpest edges, and Hotel Usona finds him turning that edge toward fascism, deportation, AI, and the particular kind of paralysis that comes from watching the world move in directions you can’t stop. It’s not comfortable territory, but it’s the kind of record that feels like it earns that discomfort.
The Domino Mart limited edition comes on Sky Blue vinyl and includes a 24-page zine and a 24×24 inch poster. That’s the one to order if you’re going in on this. It ships 25th September 2026 and given Domino’s track record with limited pressings, sitting on this decision isn’t really an option.
