Burial Self-Titled: Rough Trade 50th Anniversary Edition

Burial‘s self titled debut is part of Rough Trade’s 50th anniversary series, pressed on crystal clear vinyl and strictly limited to 1,500 copies. That is the smallest run in the series and the one most likely to disappear first, so this is not one to think about for too long.

The album came out in 2006 and quietly reshaped what electronic music could feel like. Urban isolation, crackle, ghost voices and submerged bass, the whole thing sounding like it was recorded somewhere between a night bus and a building site at 3am. Its influence has been documented endlessly since, but the record itself still sounds like nothing else.

As with the rest of the Rough Trade anniversary run, you need to be signed into a Rough Trade account to purchase. That is their method of discouraging resellers, and it is worth the minute it takes to register. At 1,500 copies, this one has already earned its place on the list.
