Mogwai's 30-year career compilation Happy Tears is out 1 Jan 2027 on Rock Action. Ltd 4LP and 2LP on yellow/black vinyl, with the Iggy Pop single Underground. Pre-order now.
Mogwai are marking 30 years with Happy Tears, a career-spanning compilation due on 1st January 2027 via Rock Action Records. It’s a double anniversary: Rock Action is the band’s own label, and it also started in 1996 with their debut single “Tuner”.
The headline track is “Underground”, the dream pairing of Mogwai and Iggy Pop, which gets its first physical release here. Alongside it are highlights from right across the discography, a single that was previously digital-only, and “Brand New Paths to Helicon 1”, a new reworking of a Mogwai classic with the Budapest Art Orchestra, orchestrated by Adam Wiltzie of A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Stars Of The Lid.
There are two vinyl editions, both on yellow/black vinyl. The limited 4LP runs to 26 tracks: the full 2LP track list plus 13 more, including “Ether” recorded live with The KNDS Fairey Band, remixes from Holden and Other Two, and a live “Mogwai Fear Satan”. It’s the limited one, so that’s the edition to move on first.
The 2LP runs to 13 tracks, from “Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home” to “Underground” with Iggy Pop.
