Mogwai mark thirty years with Happy Tears, a career retrospective on Rock Action including their Iggy Pop collaboration. 2xLP and 4xLP box set, out January 8 2027.
Thirty years in, Mogwai have put together a career-spanning retrospective on Rock Action, their own label. Happy Tears arrives January 8 and it is available to preorder now through Piccadilly Records, with a 2xColoured LP and a 4xColoured LP box set both on offer.
The headline for many people will be the Iggy Pop collaboration. The track is called “Underground”, and the connection between Iggy and Mogwai runs deeper than a one-off feature would suggest. The band named Rock Action after Scott Asheton, and Iggy’s spoken word appears on Come On Die Young. This is a pairing with real history behind it, not a promotional stunt.

The box set and signed variants include a print. Rock Action’s Bandcamp has the release live already if you want to go direct. For a physical copy through a retailer, Piccadilly have it listed now. A retrospective from a band this consistent across three decades is an easier recommendation than most.
