Youthmovies Are Reuniting for Two Shows in 2026
Youthmovies are coming back. The Oxford band, quiet since easing into a long hiatus in 2010, have confirmed a short run of live dates for 2026: a hometown show in Oxford on 20th August, a London date on 3rd October, and a previously announced slot at Somerset’s ArcTanGent Festival sitting between the two. Together, these three dates mark the group’s first live outings in almost a decade, following only two one-off reunions since they stepped away.
For anyone who spent the 2000s deep in UK math rock and post-rock, Youthmovies need no introduction. Formed in 2002 under the fuller name Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies, the five-piece spent eight years pushing at the edges of drone, krautrock, math rock and post-rock, releasing a run of EPs and a single full-length album along the way. They shared stages with acts like Foals (whose Andrew Mears was also a founding member of Youthmovies), Cats and Cats and Cats, The Edmund Fitzgerald, iForward, Russia!, Hope of the States, Polaris and 65daysofstatic, a lineup that reads like a who’s-who of the era’s most interesting British underground.
Tickets for the Oxford and London shows go on sale 16th July, via WeGotTickets and Portals respectively.
If you’ve been waiting a decade for this, now’s the moment.
