About this record

Two Places At Once is a ten-track ambient album by Vancouver guitarist Michael Scott Dawson and Aiko Takahashi, who lives on the Italian-Slovenian border between Gorizia and Nova Gorica. They made it at a distance, sending pieces back and forth, and it sounds like two people listening closely to each other.

Takahashi’s simple piano loops are the centre of every track. They drift and fold into one another, while Dawson surrounds them with soft guitar, birdsong, crickets, rustling leaves and small household sounds. Most titles are in English, with two in Japanese and a closing track in French. The sleeve photography is by Ken Eastman, and it was mastered at 12k studios.

It’s out on 6 November 2026 on 180g blue/white split vinyl, and pre-orders are already shipping.
