Indie pop vinyl
Indie pop is the gentler, jangling side of indie: chiming guitars, sweet melodies, often a little homemade. Its roots are in Postcard Records, the NME's C86 cassette and Sarah Records, and it runs through Belle and Sebastian, Camera Obscura and the Slumberland roster to bands like Veronica Falls and The Spook School.

A melodic, often lo-fi strand of indie built on jangling guitars and sweet tunes. It took shape in mid-1980s Britain around the C86 cassette and labels like Sarah Records.
A cassette given away by the NME in 1986 that gathered the new wave of British guitar bands. The name stuck as shorthand for the jangly indie pop sound it helped define.
