Before releasing music under his own name, James Ford built one of the most respected production CVs in British music, shaping records for Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Depeche Mode and others across the past two decades, alongside his work as one half of Simian Mobile Disco. Lost In Another World marks his first outing as a solo artist in his own right, and it arrives from an unusually personal place: written in just two weeks while Ford was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia. Rather than a producer's vanity project, the record reportedly leans into the intensity and clarity that came from writing under those circumstances — a genuinely unexpected pivot from someone more used to shaping other artists' visions than presenting his own.
