@ release Autosmile, their second album and first for 4AD, on soil brown coloured vinyl. Out now, available from Piccadilly Records. Eleven songs of psychedelic folk and patient calm.
@ have released their second album and their first for 4AD, and it lands on coloured vinyl in a shade described as soil brown — an unglamorous name for what is actually a considered and distinctive object. The record works in a psychedelic folk tradition but carries a contemporary sensibility that keeps it from feeling like a revival exercise.
Eleven songs move between heavier moments and patient, careful stretches, and the balance between the two is where the album does its most interesting work. On 4AD you expect a decent pressing, and the label’s ear for this kind of meditative, textured music means the home feels right.

It is out now and available through Piccadilly Records. If you follow the quieter and more exploratory end of what 4AD has been doing, this is worth your time.
