Andy Bell & Masal release Common Primitives on beautiful vinyl

Ride’s Andy Bell Returns With Masal, And Brings An Old Favourite To Vinyl With It

Andy Bell’s name is inseparable from Ride and shoegaze’s original run, but his most interesting work these days often happens well away from guitars entirely. His ongoing project with Turkish duo Masal is proof of that, and their second collaboration, Common Primitives, is arguably the most fully realised yet, moving through kosmische, astral jazz, and folk leaning ambient with real confidence.

The best part for collectors though is what comes bundled with it. This 2xLP set also includes their 2023 debut, Tidal Love Numbers, finally arriving on vinyl for the first time after only ever being available on cassette and CD. That alone makes this worth having.

There are three vinyl colourways depending on where you buy, transparent turquoise and violet, an indies exclusive starburst, and a gold splatter available only through Bandcamp. It’s out October 9th through Sonic Cathedral and up for preorder now, with all the ordering details on Andy Bell and Masal’s artist page.

Preordering direct is the way to go here, especially if you want a specific colourway, since limited variants like these rarely get a second run. Want the next announcement like this before it’s gone? Join the mailing list and we’ll do the remembering for you.
