Surface Noise Weekly: Svervedriver, Twilight Sad, Orchids, Gorillaz, Resplandor & More
Issue 10 — August 2026
New vinyl you need to know about
The Twilight Sad have a new colour variant of their sixth album up for preorder, Gigi Masin’s landmark 1986 ambient debut gets a 40th anniversary reissue through Numero Group, and Swervedriver surface with a demos collection from the raise sessions. There’s a genuine rarity from Resplandor, a signed Phoebe Bridgers pressing, The Orchids’ Sarah Records classic Unholy Soul back in print, and Urban Outfitters exclusives from both Gorillaz and Bon Iver. Plus new vinyl from The Veldt and a hand screened archival release from Patterns Make Sunrise. A lot worth knowing about before resellers get there first.

Tristeza (Last Copy + Signed Test Pressing)Resplandor LP + Signed Test Pressing, collector’s rarity A genuine one off. This is the last vinyl copy of Tristeza paired with a test pressing, personally signed by Antonio Zelada. Plastic Beach (Urban Outfitters Exclusive)Gorillaz Warner Records — 2026 — Grape vinyl with yellow splatters, limited to 3,000 copies Fifteen years on, Plastic Beach still sounds like a record built from spare parts of half a dozen genres that somehow all fit together. This Urban Outfitters exclusive comes on grape vinyl with yellow splatters. Damon Albarn’s cast of collaborators here, from Mos Def to Bobby Womack, remains one of the strangest and best assembled guest lists in modern pop. |

Unholy SoulThe Orchids Circuitry — 25th September 2026 — Translucent Pink 2LP, limited to 500 The Sarah Records album, back in print and remastered. Pauline Hynds of One Dove guests throughout, a first for the band at the time, and the record still carries that early nineties pull between bedroom wistfulness and the rave sounds creeping in around it. A genuinely limited pressing, only 500 copies exist. |

Afrodisiac (2026 Reissue)The Veldt Music On Vinyl — 2xLP The Veldt formed in Raleigh in 1986 and built a sound that ran deep R&B roots directly through shoegaze guitar textures in a way that almost nobody else was doing. Afrodisiac is where that fusion hits hardest, and a 2xLP reissue is long overdue. For anyone who has spent time with My Bloody Valentine, Lush or Slowdive and wants to hear where R&B and shoegaze genuinely collide. |

Lost WeekendPhoebe Bridgers Dead Oceans — Signed Rogue Planet 2LP A new one from Phoebe Bridgers, pressed here in a signed Rogue Planet colourway through Dead Oceans. Her voice sits at the centre of everything she does and this record is no exception, quiet and devastating in equal measure. Signed copies rarely last long. |
