Idlewild are marking thirty years with a live 10" of four songs from their self-titled album, recorded at Leith Theatre in Edinburgh. Out 11 December 2026.
Idlewild have announced Live at Leith Theatre, a four track EP recorded in Edinburgh in the summer of 2025. It’s out on V2 on 11 December 2026 on 10″ black vinyl, and pre-orders are open now through Townsend Music.
Four songs from the self-titled album
All four tracks come from Idlewild, the band’s tenth studio album, released in October 2025. It reached number 16 in the UK, their highest chart position in over twenty years, so it makes sense that these are the songs they’ve chosen to put down live.
- Stay Out Of Place (Live)
- It’s Not The First Time (Live)
- Like I Had Before (Live)
- I Wish I Wrote It Down (Live)
The live version of Stay Out Of Place is streaming now, if you want to hear what you’re getting before you order.
Thirty years of Idlewild
The EP lands a week before the band’s 30th anniversary shows, at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh on 18 December and Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on 19 December. If you were at Leith Theatre, this is a way to keep the night. If you weren’t, it’s the next best thing.
It’s a short, specific release, and those tend not to hang around. If you want one, Townsend Music has it at retail price.
