About Mute

Mute was founded in London in 1978 by Daniel Miller and became one of the most important British independents of the synth-pop and post-punk era. Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure, Einstürzende Neubauten, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Moby, Goldfrapp and Wire have all released records on Mute.

Its reissue programme brings many of these albums back on vinyl.

We list 27 Mute vinyl releases, from artists including Liars, Swans and Maps. Most of them are post-rock, shoegaze and dream pop records. The release dates run from 1999 to 2026. Two are reissues or anniversary editions of older albums. Mute records have featured in 2 issues of the Surface Noise Weekly.
