The Radio Dept. Pet Grief 20th Anniversary Vinyl Reissue – Pre-oder now!

The Radio Dept. have joined the Dinked Archive. Pet Grief, their second album and one of the most quietly distinctive records they’ve made, is getting a twentieth anniversary vinyl reissue on Just So!, landing on 13 November 2026.

We’ll be honest from the start. We love this band.

What’s in the Dinked edition

This is Archive Edition No. 37, and it’s a proper collector’s pressing:

• Opaque maroon vinyl
• Fold out poster (60 x 46 cm)
• Band logo bumper sticker
• Obi strip and gold foil sticker
• Gatefold sleeve
• Limited to 500 machine numbered copies

Everything except the gatefold is exclusive to Dinked Edition, the series of limited pressings sold through a group of independent UK record shops. That means once these 500 go, the maroon vinyl, poster and sticker go with them.

If you’d rather have the record without the extras, there’s also a standard black vinyl LP.

Why Pet Grief matters

Pet Grief first came out in April 2006. It arrived after their debut, Lesser Matters, and it’s the record where The Radio Dept. slowed everything down and pulled it inward. The guitars are still hazy and the drum machines still tick away underneath, but the songs feel more private, like they were written for one listener at a time.

It’s a very Swedish kind of melancholy. Soft voices, warm fuzz, melodies that sound simple until you realise you’ve been humming them for a week. Tracks like the title song, “The Worst Taste in Music” and “I Wanted You to Feel the Same” are the reason a lot of people fell for this band in the first place.

Over the years we’ve noticed something about The Radio Dept. Once people hear the Malmö band, they tend to become fans straight away, with no half measures. Pet Grief is usually the record that does it. There’s some serious magic going on here, and twenty years hasn’t dulled any of it.
