Lotte Kestner is the solo name of Anna Lynne Williams, previously the singer, guitarist and songwriter of Seattle dream pop band Trespassers William. She began releasing music under the Lotte Kestner name in 2007, moving toward a quieter, more stripped back sound built around layered vocals rather than the wall of guitars she was known for in her earlier band. Alongside her solo work she has sung on records by the Chemical Brothers and AFI, and released a full album of covers in 2011, which is fitting given how well her voice suits reworking other people's songs. Her cover of Slowdive's "Alison" strips the original right down, turning something dense and reverb soaked into something quiet and close.
