Talk Talk's The Colour of Spring gets a 40th anniversary half-speed master LP on Parlophone. Pre-order from Norman Records — a reissue genuinely worth upgrading for.
Forty years on from its original release, Talk Talk‘s The Colour of Spring is getting the half-speed master treatment from Parlophone. This is the record that sits between the band’s pop origins and the radical experiments of Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock — the moment where Mark Hollis began pulling the songs apart and rebuilding them with far more space and texture than the format seemed to allow.
A half-speed master suits this record particularly well. The arrangements reward close listening, and the dynamic range that Hollis and Tim Friese-Greene built into the sessions has always been slightly compressed by standard cutting. Done properly, this pressing should open the album up in a way that makes a familiar record feel genuinely new.

If you already own a copy, this is still a legitimate reason to upgrade. If you don’t, there’s no better time to start. Available now to pre-order from Norman Records on LP.
