Helen's second album Linda's Head is out now on Kranky. The Liz Harris-led trio return after eleven years with more immersive Pacific Northwest dreampop.
Eleven years is a long time between records, but the Pacific Northwest trio of Liz Harris, Scott Simmons and Jed Bindeman are back with their second album as Helen, and it arrives on Kranky right now. No waiting, no preorder window — it’s out.
Harris will always be best known for her work as Grouper, and that context matters here. This is music that operates in similar territory: soft, immersive, built around melody and a certain quality of stillness that is hard to manufacture and impossible to fake.

Linda’s Head picks up where The Original Faces left off, which is exactly what you want from a record like this. Bedroom dreampop made with patience and care, the kind of thing you listen to in a single sitting with the lights low. If you have been waiting since 2015, the wait is over. If you are new to Helen entirely, this is as good a place as any to start.
