BETHLEHEM بيت لحم is out now on Constellation — an expanded 180g LP from Lawrence Sammour, Sary Moussa and Abed Kobeissy. One of the year's most vital records.
This one matters. BETHLEHEM بيت لحم began as a commissioned response to the Church of the Nativity cancelling its Christmas celebrations in 2023, bringing together Lawrence Sammour — who has led the Nativity choir for over fifty years — and Beirut experimental musicians Sary Moussa and Abed Kobeissy. The original 20-minute piece aired on Radio AlHara on Christmas Eve 2023 and was picked up by more than 50 stations worldwide.
What Constellation have pressed here is the expanded version, developed following a residency at Dar El Nimer and mixed at Hotel2Tango. The record carries the full weight of that context without needing to lean on it — it stands on its own terms as a piece of music.
Released on 180g LP via Constellation, this is among the more significant things the label has put out in years. Available now, direct from the source.
