Anna Domino's 1984 art-pop record East and West gets its first proper reissue on Domino, with key singles and seven unreleased demos from the original 4-track tapes.
Anna Domino recorded East and West in downtown New York in 1984, in a neighbourhood she shared with Brian Eno, Talking Heads and Laurie Anderson. It is a record that sounds like exactly that context: art-pop with a cool, architectural quality, closer to the avant end of the dial. It has never had a proper reissue until now.
Domino Mart’s edition bundles the original mini-album with key singles and seven previously unreleased demos, digitised from the original 4-track tapes. Those demos include early versions of most of the album tracks and one track that has never appeared anywhere before. The only way to get this material on vinyl is through this edition.

The format is a 2xLP on black vinyl with a limited bonus 12″ containing the demo material. It ships December 4. If archival editions interest you at all, the demo disc alone makes this worth picking up — hearing where those songs started, recorded in the moment rather than assembled in retrospect, is a different kind of document than liner notes ever manage to be.
