New vinyl you need to know about

Whirr and Luster share a split 12″ that’s one of the most significant shoegaze releases in years, Fontaines D.C. announce their fifth album on XL, and Hüsker Dü’s sold-out Miracle Year box is back for a second pressing. The Cat’s Miaow surface with their long-awaited debut album, Velocity Girl’s early years get a proper anthology, and Wolves in the Throne Room are back with a new LP. There’s also a Rocketship 30th anniversary reissue, ionnalee’s final Mouth of a River chapter, and new vinyl from Black Marble, Bibio and more.

Whirr & Luster Split

Whirr & Luster

Free Whirl Records — 18th September 2026 — 12″ EP, Clear & Red Marble, numbered /500 (Funeral Party exclusive)

Whirr’s first new material in years paired with two tracks from Luster, the most compelling new voice in American shoegaze right now. Nick Bassett produced Luster’s previous output and that connection runs through everything here: glider guitar, buried vocals, volume as the primary emotional register. Four songs, two coasts, two generations of the genre in genuine conversation. The Funeral Party exclusive is on clear and red marble vinyl, numbered to 500.

In the Shadow of Your Shadow

Cult of Luna

6th November 2026 — 2LP, gatefold with 12 page booklet, five colour variants available

A seventy one minute monolith and possibly the darkest record the Swedish group have put their name to, twenty five years into a career built on refusing to repeat itself. Guest vocals from Joe Duplantier and David Eugene Edwards sit inside a set of songs shaped by recent loss. Five vinyl variants are available, all limited.

Big Life, Big Leaf

No Joy

Sonic Cathedral — Ships from 4th September 2026 — 10″ Rose Petal vinyl, limited to 300

The EP is out everywhere now, but this Rose Petal 10″ is the one worth chasing. Spot varnished sleeve, just 300 copies worldwide, and it will not be repressed once it is gone. UK and EU only, ROW customers are pointed to Hand Drawn Dracula instead.

Dopamine Chamber

Fontaines D.C.

XL Recordings — 16th October 2026 — LP / Coloured LP / Indies Exclusive Blue Marble Coloured LP

Their fifth album and their most radical pivot yet, with cold synth tones, marching drums, several songs with no guitars at all, and 1960s Italian pop strings pulled into something synthetic. Produced by James Ford, recorded partly in Palermo. The indies exclusive is on blue marble vinyl. If Romance felt like a band testing limits, this sounds like a band burning the map.

The Second Wave

Khoma

Red Creek — 7th July 2026 — 2LP, transparent yellow with marbled black, trifold sleeve, limited to 500

One of the most acclaimed rock and metal records of its decade, on vinyl for the very first time twenty years after release. The Umeå collective moved from DIY underground to Roadrunner Records with this album and it still sounds well ahead of its time. Comes with a 20 page booklet.

1985: The Miracle Year (4xLP Boxset, 2nd Edition)

Numero Group — 4xLP, White Vinyl or Black Vinyl — Shipping early to mid September 2026

The first edition sold out almost immediately and resellers moved in fast. This second pressing is your chance to get it at retail. The set captures Hüsker Dü at their peak, a full January 1985 First Avenue show restored to exceptional fidelity, plus 20 additional live tracks from newly recovered tapes.

REISSUE

The Body, The Blood, The Machine (20th Anniversary Edition)

The Thermals

Sub Pop — Ships from 18th September 2026 — Opaque Red LP

Twenty years on, the Portland trio’s third album still sounds like their widest and wildest swing, adding walls of guitar and organ to their scrappy post pop punk roots without losing the grit. This anniversary pressing lands on opaque red vinyl through the Sub Pop Mega Mart.

When You Smiled And Turned Away

The Cat’s Miaow

Slumberland / Lost & Lonesome — LP

Remarkably this is the debut studio album from a band whose 1990s tapes and 7″s have been spoken about in hushed tones in indiepop circles for thirty years. Two well received World of Echo compilations prompted a reunion, and the result is some of their finest recordings yet, gentle, unfussy and quietly mastered. A limited print is available with direct orders.

REISSUE

A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness (30th Anniversary Edition)

Rocketship

Slumberland — LP, White/Bone Swirl vinyl

Rocketship’s 1996 debut spiked indiepop with buzzing organs, spacey interludes and motorik repetition in a way that sat them next to Stereolab and Unrest but sounded like nothing else. Thirty years on it still sounds singular. Lovingly remastered and pressed on white and bone swirl vinyl. The LP is already sold out at retail but Slumberland still have direct copies.

Estuary

Wolves in the Throne Room

Century Media — 9th October 2026 — LP, Sea Wolf coloured / LP, Corroded Remnants coloured / LP, Black

The Olympia duo have always occupied a space where black metal opens into something far more atmospheric and considered, and Estuary continues that lineage. Three vinyl options are available, Sea Wolf coloured, Corroded Remnants coloured, and standard black. The coloured variants will be the ones to move on first.

Drive Soundtrack (15th Anniversary Edition)

Cliff Martinez

Lakeshore Records — 18th September 2026 — Coloured 2LP

Fifteen years since Drive reshaped what a film score could sound like, Cliff Martinez’s synth driven soundtrack gets a collector’s edition pressing alongside reissues of the earlier 5th and 10th anniversary versions. College, Electric Youth and Chromatics all feature. One of the defining scores of the last two decades.
