Protomartyr’s seventh album Hotel Usona is the week’s most urgent preorder, recorded with Dave Fridmann and sounding like a band who know exactly what they’re doing. The Durutti Column return after fifteen years of silence with Renascent, Unwound’s Leaves Turn Inside You gets a 25th anniversary edition, and SWANS announce a new live album. Russian Circles, Greg Freeman, Teenage Fanclub, Bodega, Cabaret Voltaire and more round out a genuinely strong week.

Renascent The Durutti Column London Records — 31st July 2026 — Coloured LP / Coloured Deluxe LP The first new Durutti Column studio album in over fifteen years, built around Vini Reilly’s guitar work, with warm ambient washes, piano, beats and vocal contributions from Caoilfhionn Rose. The combination of noise rock, shoegaze, post-rock, and something genuinely stranger than either has aged better than almost anything from its era. If you don’t own it, this is the moment. Nine Russian Circles Sargent House — 28th August 2026 — LP The ninth Russian Circles album, with lead single “Eluvial” pointing toward something vast and searching. Pitchfork called them “exemplars of post-rock and post-metal” and that hasn’t changed; what has is the weight and confidence they bring to each record. All Set The Bone Greg Freeman Transgressive — 2nd October 2026 — 2xLP / 2xColoured LP / Dinked Edition 2xLP (140g “Dusk” coloured vinyl, signed 12″x12″ insert, hand-numbered belly band, gatefold, limited pressing of 500) Freeman’s third album, recorded quickly with John Congleton in Hollywood, earned the Pitchfork Best New Album stamp for his last record and ended up in the New York Times year-end lists. This one sounds more friction-heavy and unpredictable: guitar scorchers, psych-rock noodles, near-baroque piano, and enough key changes to lose track.
