Trespassers William formed in Orange County, California in 1997, led by singer Anna Lynne Williams and guitarist Matt Brown. Their sound moved through indie rock, dream pop and shoegaze across three albums, most notably 2002's "Different Stars", which caught the attention of Cocteau Twins bassist Simon Raymonde and led to the band signing to his label, Bella Union. The band later relocated to Seattle, where they eventually settled as a duo before splitting in 2012, with a brief reunion single in 2020. Williams now records solo as Lotte Kestner. Their cover of Ride's "Vapour Trail" is one of the most loved reworkings on this playlist, slowing the original right down into something far more hushed and aching.
