Surface Noise Weekly: 26 June 2026
Issue — 3 – June/July 2026
New vinyl you need to know about
The Mojave 3 catalogue reissues are the obvious centrepiece this week, five albums, all remastered at Abbey Road, all finally back in print. Alongside that, Pye Corner Audio’s new album landed with some autographed copies still around, William Basinski’s Disintegration Loops box set is back in stock, and MONO’s Snowdrop arrived from Temporary Residence. There’s also a 20th anniversary reissue of envy’s landmark post-rock record Insomniac Doze worth knowing about, plus a handful of other things across shoegaze, dreampop, ambient and indie that deserve your attention before resellers get there first.

Full Catalogue ReissuesMojave 3 4AD — 24th July 2026 — LP (Standard Black) / Clear LP 4AD Exclusive Slipcase (all five albums) All five Mojave 3 albums — Ask Me Tomorrow (1995), Out of Tune (1998), Excuses For Travellers (2000), Spoon and Rafter (2003) and Puzzles Like You (2006), back in print on 24th July, remastered at Abbey Road. These are among the most requested reissues on 4AD for a decade. Born from Slowdive, Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell stripped everything back and made something quieter and more country-tinged. If you’ve never owned any of these, start with Ask Me Tomorrow or Out of Tune. The 4AD store has the exclusive clear vinyl slipcase with all five on clear LP and an 8×10″ print. SnowdropMONO Temporary Residence Ltd — Out Now — LP MONO’s first album since the death of Steve Albini, recorded at his Electrical Audio studios with producer Brad Wood stepping in. A 10-piece orchestra and 8-piece choir appear across eight pieces. Where grief could have produced something laboured, this one reportedly feels like gratitude, an album that turns loss into forward motion. One of the most emotionally significant post-rock releases in a while. Buy from Temporary Residence → |
